Kye meeting

The Kye is a Korean traditional private financial system. It's believed to have started at least from three nations age (AD 400-700) in Korean society. I don't try to explain the Kye system itself in here. I recently joined a Kye group which was formed by Korean alumnus of SDSU. We have monthly meeting on turn by turn way. Tonight was my turn to host it. Here're people who're Kye members and their families got together at my place.

Sunday night

Tonight, I went to the Living Room Cafe on El Cajon blvd close to my apartment. Due to the final exam season of SDSU, lots of students filled almost all the tables on there and I could hardly find a table inside. Thus, there's no choice but to take a seat at patio although it's winter and cold. Night scene of coffee shop was silent and I couldn't stop me to want to take a picture on there. Two cups of tea on the table, outside.

When I got back to home and parked my car on my lot, I found few traffic on freeway I-8 down there, the valley by SDSU campus. Every light was beautiful and I wanted to keep it.

Before entering my front door, there's the last chance to take quiet pool of this apartment. The reflection of lamps chased me and I couldn't resist to them.

Birthday dinner

December fifth is my birthday. Last weekend, I invited couple of friends to a little dinner for celebrating my upcoming birthday. I was totally drunken by mixed alcohol - beer, soju and margarita - and pressure of kevin. ^^ As you know, I am person to fall asleep right after being drunken.

Cheers altogether. I was okay at this time.

After that, I don't remember what happened. It seems like everyone enjoyed dancing when I was gone.

Xin & Jessica gave me a nice gift for both of b-day & x-mas.

Lake Tahoe at Thanksgiving

During thanksgiving holiday, I've been on Lake Tahoe. The main purpose of this trip, including 10+10 hours driving up there, was snowboarding. Oh my God! There's too warm and results only a few ski area opened with couple of runs. Guess what? All the holiday visitors rushed to those small ski slope. Surely, I couldn't make enough speed and should even wait for half an hour to ride a small chair lift! So, I decided to change the goal of this trip to sightseeing. Especially, photographying. Fortunately, my new camera has been delivered just two days before taking off, lots of fresh pix were taken in good shape. Here are some of them.

Tahoe is the biggest lake in california (maybe whole east coast) at high land. It seems like a sea rather than a lake but, soon, I realize the purity of water allows me to see inside of it to bottom.

One day, I went up to the top of heavenly ski area w/o snowboard equipments just like a traveller. It's windy and cold. Thus, I couldn't stand there long time. God! The vista point has a little store selling coffee! No one can resist to have a hot cup of drink up there.

It's a little bit tricky to take sun and lake in one shot. I still need to be trained about photography but this one satisfies me.

Stateline is so-called downtown around lake tahoe. There're nice fancy stores and resorts. It's divided into california side and nevada side. Funny!

There're couple of small lakes are spread around the big lake. Donner is one of them. I found it by my mistake on direction to Boreal ski resort. It's worthy to spend time, here! The most beautiful area except lake tahoe in this trip!

Carson city is the capital of the state of Nevada. It's little cute historical city. I should spend more time on this city next time.

The 2nd big city in Nevada was already in the mood of Christmas. Reno gave my friend, Jaehyuk, a little bit good fortune. He earned about $500 in Casino. Good job!

When I came down from Lake Tahoe, I've got a little cute village like a painting. The name of this town is Foothill.

Tuscon, Arizona

Last weekend, I've been in Tuscon to visit my friend Jeongyeol Yoon. Dr Yoon and his wife are both of professors of Univ of Arizona. You can imagine how smart couple they are. :)
I've carpooled with my coworker Mark Campbell since he always visits Tuscon to see his daughter, Megan. Megan is senior student in Univ of Arizona.
My first impression about Tucson is a dried but clean city. Soon I learned it is also old historical city in Arizona. Tuscon's existed even before Pheonix started. For that reason, it seems that Tuscon people are proud of their own town.
Arizona is the only state having State Tree in US. You can imagine what. Yes, it is Cactus. The State of Arizona prohibits to dig cactus. Also is this state a land of desert. Everywhere I could see only continued desert while I was driving down there.
Desert Museum of Tuscon shows the life in desert. Unlike other zoo, this place exhibits lots of wierd living creatures behind strong show windows or on outdoor park. There are lots of snakes, scorpions, lizards, reptiles, mountain lions, wildcats, bears, goats, wild boars and cactuses. You must not miss there when you visit Tuscon.
Universtity of Arizona has as long history as Tuscon's. It is the first high education facility in Arizona when this state still is a territory. I just recalled that the Mascot "Wildcats" of it has shown up in the movie "Speed". Sandra Block has had a tattoo of Wildcats since she's graduated from Univ of Arizona in that movie. That's interesting clue for me.
